Role Overview

An exciting new opportunity has been created in our busy Drawing office, reporting to our Head of Steel Detailing.

To support our quality control procedures your role will be to undertake an independent check of Steelwork 3D model & fabrication drawings prior to their release to production.

You will need to be a competent user of AutoCad & Tekla structures and have the ability to communicate technical subjects.

This role would suit a steel detailer looking for a new opportunity as experience of the job is essential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work in accordance with the Drawing Office checking procedure.
  • Undertake the following tasks:
  • To check that all detailing is carried out in accordance with the relevant British Standards and the current Company Standards.
  • To check the Tekla Model against design calculations.
  • To check that information shown on the Arrangement drawings conforms to the client’s specification and design calculations.
  • To check that fabrication drawings have the correct welds and conform to Company Standards.
  • Accurately record electronically the checks carried out.
  • Make suggestions for improvement opportunities.

Glazing Draughtsperson

Role Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Draughtsperson to join our busy Glazing Division, based at our office in Christchurch. The successful candidate will have proven experience in using AutoCAD as strong knowledge of this software is essential to the role.

Our Company has the capability to supply the full building envelope, so you’ll be working with internal steel and cladding colleagues to ensure integration of glazing elements as part of our structural steel projects, as well as working on some stand alone glazing projects. As you’ll be required to liaise with other areas of the business, you will need to possess strong communication skills. Experience in aluminium windows and curtain walling would be advantageous although not essential.

Training offered for a candidate with a good attitude, attention to detail and desire to learn.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Steel Erector

Role Overview

Due to continuing growth and internal progression, we are looking for an experienced steel erector. As a key member of the site team you will construct steel structures from large aircraft hangars to grandstands and highway bridges with all their steel components and associated roof and wall cladding.

You will have the opportunity to work on prestigious construction projects in the UK and potentially overseas.

In addition to experienced steel erectors, we are keen to discuss trainee opportunities for candidates with a great attitude and desire to start a career in the structural steel industry.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Read and understand drawings and follow safe working practices in the preassembly and erection of structural steelwork at low and high levels.
  • Sling loads, signal and work with cranes.
  • Working at height and operating high level access equipment e.g. Mobile Operating Platforms (MEWP’s).
  • Erect steelwork.
  • Operate site plant and equipment.
  • Fit prefabricated sheet metal (flashings and trims) and structural decking.

Steel Detailer

Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Steelwork Detailer to join our busy Drawing Office. The role will see you working on a wide range of structural steel projects for both our UK and overseas markets.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a similar role and be able to effectively manage their workload whilst working to tight deadlines.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

  • 3D modelling and detailing of steel framed buildings, structures & associated items using Tekla 3D detailing software.
  • Creating fabrication drawings, including editing, to enable accurate steelwork manufacture.
  • Liaising within house designers, cladding draughtsperson, bid managers and construction team as well as external design team meetings with architects, engineers and clients.
  • Preparing lists for manufacturing, purchase and despatch.
  • Issuing and monitoring Requests for Information (RFIs) and responding to site queries.
  • Preparing drawing registers and issuing arrangement drawings and parts and fixing lists.
  • Advising bid managers of any extras or variations as the project progresses.

Key Skills

  • Previous Tekla steelwork detailing experience in a similar industry.
