Yard Operative
Role Overview
Working in our despatch yard, you’ll be a key member of the team in making sure our projects are delivered accurately and on time.
This role entails material handling from our workshops into the yard and unloading / loading trailers and shipping containers.
Previous experience in a similar environment along with certificates in forklift truck operations are desirable although not essential. We would consider a hard working trainee who is keen to learn.
Motivation to work outside year-round is essential.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Complying with all relevant Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
- Unloading trailers of steel items that have returned from painting or galvanisation, or bought out items that are to be packed for export.
- Movement of steel sections out of our workshops, into the yard for stacking and loading.
- Creating “bundles” of items and subsequently loading onto trailers or into shipping containers.
- Safe use of forklift trucks, staddle carrier and overhead gantry cranes.
- Banksman duties.
- Accurately completing despatch paperwork.
- Ensuring that the yard area is organised and tidy.
- Making wooden crates for small parts and packing and labelling crates.
- Support in other areas of production as required.
- Working in accordance with our Company Values.
