We’re in the finals of the Galvanizing Awards for the flagship Civic Center in Belize, Central America.
We’re thrilled to be nominated for the Construction Industry Choice Award in the Galvanizers Association (GA) organised contest.
The shortlisted projects are open to a popular vote, so we need YOUR support to help us win recognition for our role in this multi-million dollar project.
Please visit the GA website and click HERE to vote for us. It would be a tremendous accolade to win for all of our hardworking and valued staff as well as for quality manufacturing in Dorset and the UK.
Very many thanks for your support if you are able to help.
We performed all of the structural design, detailing and fabrication on the centre, including the cladding and glazing for the complex – one of the largest construction projects in the country’s history.
The prefabricated steel sections were manufactured at our factory in Christchurch, Dorset, before being shipped 5,000 miles away to Belize City.
Costing $32.9m Belize Dollars (£12.7m), the centre is resistant to earthquakes, hurricanes and other natural disasters.
It includes an air-conditioned arena with a seating capacity of 4,500 for sports and entertainment as well as international standard basketball and volleyball courts, practice courts, offices, media boxes, changing rooms, parking and a deck area for boats to dock.
A total of 750 tonnes of steelwork was required for the 39,000 sq ft complex, including a structurally optimized steel frame with hot rolled and hot dip galvanized sections.
It also includes a roofing system spanning 200 feet, together with all the terraces for approximately 4500 seats and all the suspended floors consisting of a galvanized composite metal decking system.
The centre officially opened at the start of May and has already held competitive basketball matches.
Please don’t forget to vote for us in the awards!
