Work experience students Edward and Ricardo gained valuable hands-on experience at REIDsteel – quite literally!
They got to grips with welding when they fabricated their own steel sections during a week spent with us.
The year 10 duo – from Twynham and The Grange schools in Christchurch – were the latest students to join us on placement.
They both expressed an interest in fabrication and spent the majority of their week in that area of the business.
The pictures show Edward and Ricardo above marking out sheet metal and trying their hand at welding as well as their finished work, below.
They were also given an overview of the other areas of the business as part of a bespoke placement programme to get a sense of the broad range of opportunities that we offer here.
We were really proud to be able to offer a meaningful, practical placement where Edward and Ricardo were able to try their hand at welding, following the appropriate risk assessments.
When asked if they had enjoyed themselves it was a resounding ‘yes’ from both of them. They said that it was ‘interesting’, ‘beneficial’ and great to learn new skills.
It was a pleasure to welcome Edward and Ricardo to REIDsteel to join our ‘one team’ for the week.
Many thanks go to the REIDsteel team members who took the time out of their day to enthusiastically support Edward and Ricardo on their placements.
We met Edward and Ricardo at one of the local careers fairs where we were able to talk to visitors about the wide range of opportunities at REIDsteel.
Anyone interested in a career at REIDsteel is encouraged to email hr@reidsteel.co.uk, give us a call or talk to us at a future careers fair.
