Company Overview

We design, manufacture and construct high quality steel structures including industrial buildings, aircraft hangars and their electro-mechanical doors, warehouses, grandstands, multi-storey buildings, car parks, bridges and defence equipment. Additionally, cladding and envelope systems, roller shutter doors, glazing and curtain walling are all brought into the package.

 

We work on projects around the UK and across the world, having exported to over 140 countries in the Company’s history of over 100 years.

Role Overview To support team development, internal growth and refinement of purchasing activities, a new vacancy has been created. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will work closely with our suppliers of materials such as industrial roof and wall cladding, understand technical specifications and expediting orders to support the overall success of our prestigious projects in the UK and abroad. Main Duties and Responsibilities Proactively establishing purchasing needs for each project Confirming specification requirements with relevant staff to ensure conformity Identifying suitable suppliers for various products and obtaining quotations Establishing when and where materials are required for delivery to meet programmes and/or deadlines Working with the Purchasing Manager to obtain quotations, negotiate best price and payment terms, and select best supplier Carrying out supplier assessments for new suppliers, including credit check; QA accreditations; CE marking compliance; H&S policy; environmental; ethical trading. Raising and placing of purchase orders with approved suppliers Expediting purchase orders to achieve complete and on-time delivery Periodically reviewing supplier performance and review of supplier status Building and maintaining good supplier relationships to ensure best value, quality and priority service Working to cost budgets and providing cost variance reports and other KPI data, when required Assisting in resolving any discrepancies with supplier invoices / credits Key Skills Prior background working as a Buyer or Purchasing Assistant in the engineering, construction or manufacturing industry Excellent attention to detail Excellent communication skills to be able to understand and meet project requirements Strong negotiation skills with suppliers The above list is not exhaustive, but it covers the main duties of the position. Role Overview An exciting opportunity for a varied role supporting our Quality, Health, Safety & Environment activities across the business and driving continuous improvement. This would suit someone who has previous experience in a quality environment in particular. Training would be considered for a candidate demonstrating strong administrative experience with an interest in developing internal auditing responsibilities. Main Duties and Responsibilities Administering H&S record keeping (incidents, accidents, near misses). Collating records and data relating to waste and energy management. Producing accurate reports on quality, health, safety and environmental performance. Ensuring compliance with document control procedures. Assisting in management review of the company QHSE management systems, including taking meeting minutes as required. Supporting with external ISO requalification and surveillance audits. Taking minutes at various QHSE meetings. Providing QHSE data to Sales in support of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires for tenders. Liaising with departments around the business to follow up on agreed actions. Conducting internal audits relating to the Quality (Including Factory Production Control) and Environmental Management Systems. Assisting the QHSE Manager with general administration as requested. Key Skills Awareness of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001. Internal auditing. Good attention to detail. Self motivation to close out actions, support other business functions and drive improvement. Role Overview To support growth and professional development, we are looking for an additional cladding draughtsperson to join our busy Drawing Office. As a key member of our internal project team, you will be responsible for detailing the roof and wall cladding and associated items for our steel structures. Your drawings will be used in the manufacture of sheet metal items and installation of cladding, flashings, gutters and trims on site. Main Duties and Responsibilities Preparing cladding layout drawings and flashing and gutter details. Liaising with in-house designers, steelwork draughtsperson, bid managers and construction team as well as attending external design team meetings with architects, engineers and clients. Liaising with Works Manager and factory team regarding drawing issues and queries. Assisting with site surveys when required. Creating flashing, gutter and fabrication drawings. Preparing lists for manufacturing, purchase and despatch. Issuing and monitoring Requests for Information (RFIs) with clients, and responding to site queries. Creating detailed parts and fixings inventories of all cladding elements. Attending launch and project meetings. Advising project managers of any extras or variations as the project progresses. Key Skills Previous cladding experience in a similar industry. AutoCAD or similar 2D software. Attention to detail. Organised and methodical. Mathematically capable – applying trigonometry and checking calculations. Good communicator – working well within an internal/external project team and obtaining the information you need. Role Overview * experienced and trainee roles available * We are looking to grow our site team and have great opportunities for both experienced steel erectors / cladding installers and trainees. As a key member of the site team you will construct steel structures from large aircraft hangars to grandstands and highway bridges with all their steel components and associated roof and wall cladding. You will have the opportunity to work on prestigious construction projects in the UK and potentially overseas. Main Duties and Responsibilities Comply with all relevant Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies. Work in accordance with Company core values. Ensure that all work carried out is done safely in accordance with the Company’s policies and appropriate Method Statements/Risk Assessments. Possess the ability to read and understand drawings and follow safe working practices in the preassembly and erection of structural steelwork at low and high levels. Sling loads, signal and work with cranes. Carry out crane supervisor duties in accordance with training. Working at height and operating high level access equipment e.g. Mobile Operating Platforms (MEWP’s). Erect steelwork. Operate site plant and equipment. Fit prefabricated sheet metal (flashings and trims) and structural decking. Install roof, vertical and horizontal cladding systems. Key Skills A full UK driving licence. A valid CSCS Steel Erector and / or Cladder card resulting from NVQ (preferably L3) assessment. A valid CPCS Slinger / signaller card. A valid CPCS Plant Operator card or IPAF for MEWPS Operator card. Be willing to work away from home in the UK and overseas; this is a key part of the role. The Company will support trainees in gaining the industry qualifications. Role Overview This is a great opportunity for an established Structural Engineer to join our expanding Design team. You will ideally have 5 years’ post graduate experience and be a Chartered Member of the IStructE or working towards chartership. As Structural Engineer, you will be expected to assist bid management in the preparation of offers; the Drawing Office in the detailing of the building elements; site management in the safe methods of building; and the end clients with a view to meeting the provisions of our contract and encouraging them to come back to us. This is a demanding, hands-on structural engineering position. We are a well-established company and have a large export market, so the ability to use a variety of codes and design criteria is important. Main Duties and Responsibilities Complying with all relevant Company Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental policies. Conceptual design – working in partnership with the sales team. Analysis design – using linear element or finite element software. Detail design – of all connections, bolts and welds. Preparing design calculations for draughtspeople and building control. Taking a leading role in preparing the CDM risk register for each building. Assisting with the preparation of safe erection methods. Attending meetings, both internal and client facing, as required. Optimising designs to produce structures that are safe, easy to draw, manufacture, ship and erect as well as being cost effective. Assisting with the preparation of operation and maintenance manuals for the client. Key Skills MIStructE or working towards chartership. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to meet specification, budget and programme as well as resolve any challenges that arise. CAD software. In depth knowledge of structural analysis concepts. Seismic design experience. Linear element or finite element analysis experience. Surveying experience.
