Role Overview

This exciting new role has been created within our team. As Export Manager you will work closely with
sales, contracts and logistics; assist with many aspects of the export process including: contracts of
sale; terms of shipment; export payment processes; export documentation; compliance; due diligence
checks; and putting in place agreements and managing relationships with third parties, such as agents.
Our export activities are key to our ongoing success and growth and this role will play an integral part in
that success.

The ideal candidate might have previous experience in a commercial export role, some knowledge or
experience of overseas markets in Africa or the wider-world, or come from an international trade
finance or shipping / logistics background. Training and mentoring will be provided to build on strong
experience already gained. Educational study support would also be considered for the right candidate.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Complying with all relevant Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
• Working in accordance with our Company Values.
• To be responsible for ensuring the company trades in compliance with regulations affecting international trade, such as: export licencing controls and sanctions. Liaising with government departments, agencies, professional bodies and clients to ensure compliance.
• Keeping up to date with international affairs and events which might impact on our export trading strategies or affect countries and parties we should or should not be trading with.
• Implementing the Company’s anti-bribery and corruption policy and related processes and procedures.
• Carrying-out due diligence checks on third parties to verify their veracity.
• With use of the Company’s standard forms, negotiating and administering third party agreements, such as sales agency agreements.
• Reviewing and helping negotiate the terms of conditions for export sales contracts, such as: legal jurisdiction and country risk; payment mechanism; currency; delivery programme, requirement for bonds; shipping documentation requirements; product descriptions and HS Codes; suitability of Incoterm.
• Being able to advise and negotiate terms for payment, including instruments such as Letters of Credit.
• Being the source of reference in the Company for international trade related matters.
• Assisting with load planning and programming of export shipments.
• Being able to carry out basic freight cost calculations and being aware of freight forwarding procedures and standard forms of export shipping documentation.
• Occasionally travelling to visit countries we trade with overseas, for market appreciation or to support the business development team.
• Promoting the Company’s interests in international trade forums and establishing relationships with third party organisations, government, financial service providers, or sometimes discover potential clients, to further the Company’s export trade capabilities.
