REIDsteel backs Dorset Business Awards

We’re backing Dorset businesses with sponsorship of the county’s prestigious annual awards.

The Dorset Business Awards will be launched in early July before the honours are announced at a glittering ceremony in November.

We’re proud to sponsor one of the new categories for this year’s awards although we can’t say which one until the official launch day.

Organisers from Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) are aiming for one of the biggest and best awards so far.

There are so many exceptional companies deserving recognition for their achievements and there has never been a better time to celebrate their successes as we look to new horizons following Brexit.

We’re delighted to show our support for the Chamber and the county’s brilliant businesses through our sponsorship and involvement with the awards.

We’re looking […]

Brexit to the letter

Brexit to the letterOur managing director Simon Boyd has personally written to every single MP in the UK to urge a clean break from the European Union.
As debate continues at the start of formal Brexit negotiations today, Simon has sent letters to all 650 MPs at Westminster – including the Prime Minister – urging them not to ‘snatch defeat from the jaws of victory’.

He warned that watered down Brexit plans would hit thousands of businesses – especially SMEs – and be a betrayal of the will of the people.
Mr Boyd writes in his letter: “We voted Out and that means Out please.

Out of the EU but not Out of Europe. Out of the damaging jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice. Out of the single market […]

Now is the time to invest in export

Press Release:

Simon Boyd, Managing Director of REIDsteel and Chairman of pro-Brexit Business for Britain South West, urged firms to prioritise investment following new growth figures and reports in the wake of the Bank of England’s interest rate decision.

He said: “With interest rates kept on hold and the continued weaker pound, now is the vital time for exporters to invest.

“The Bank of England has taken a more upbeat global outlook, based on better investment incentives and more competitive export opportunities.

“With growth in 2018 and 2019 forecast to be stronger than expected, businesses and especially exporters can use the time during Brexit negotiations by investing wisely and making sure they are ready to hit the ground running when we eventually leave the EU.”

Mr Boyd’s comments come before Labour […]

Simon Says.. Spring Budget

Simon Boyd, Managing Director of Christchurch-based REIDsteel which works throughout the UK and exports worldwide , said: “It was a positive Budget as we look ahead to negotiations for Brexit.

“I am fully supportive of the Government and the work it has to do, and this Budget will help prepare the grounds for a strong economy during this time.

“From a business point of view there was good news with the reduction in Corporation Tax to 17%. The support for social care is welcome although a fundamental reform of the whole system is needed in the long term.

“The rise in the National Living Wage is also welcome because we believe in a decent wage for the UK workforce.

“Low productivity is a perennial issue and some companies prefer to […]
