On the sunniest day of the summer so far, the REIDsteel Team took to the water for the annual Mudeford Lifeboat Funday Raft Race.
After a very convincing victory in their heat, the final proved a much tougher test for the lads, with a neck and neck struggle for supremacy between REIDsteel and the New Milton Roundtable Team.
Finally, with what was surely an immense amount of Steve Redgrave like grit and determination, the REIDsteel team broke the oppositions resistance and crossed the line ahead to win the race and retain their winners title from last year.
The lads were then awarded another accolade, as for the second year running they were the team who had raised the most money for the cause.
Harshly (we think) […]
Steel is a fantastic building material, but sometimes steel frame buildings don’t have to look like steel frame buildings at all.
An example is the Lido Mar in Montenegro. The architectural design concept was by Studio RHE Architecture & Design and the structural steelwork design was by REIDsteel.
As you can see from these photos the final results are stunning.
In early 2011 we were successful in being awarded a contract to design and supply an Aircraft Hangar for Eznis Airways.
This hangar was required to house their fleet comprising of four Saab 340B aircraft and two Avro RJ85 aircraft, which serve their expanding domestic flights service operating from the Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar.
The project required the design and fabrication of a 50m clear span Hangar together with a two storey office, workshop and stores facility on either side of the Hangar and across the rear elevation.
In addition, we supplied the Eznis Company Logo which sits proudly on both gable peaks of the Hangar and we also produced a separate pair of sliding doors which can be opened to allow […]
Construction of the aircraft maintenance hangar in Mongolia continues, and the fuselage sealing doors are now in place.
Designed by REIDsteel to fit an Avro RJ85. The fabric ring inflates to create a tight seal around the aircraft body so that maintenance can be carried out on the aircraft without the need for the whole plane to be inside the hangar.
When the seal is not in use, the smaller, outer doors slide shut and seal the hangar.
Small outer doors seal the hangar
The project was commisioned by Eznis Airways LLC, and is located in the Capital Ulaanbaatar.

With UK temperatures now starting to creep below zero, spare a thought for our team constructing a REIDsteel designed aircraft maintenance hangar in Mongolia.
Temperatures there have dropped as low as minus 37 degrees centigrade!
At these kinds of temperatures things freeze fast, and the locals have developed some interesting methods for keeping their vehicles in service!
The cold also required some method adaptation for the REIDsteel crew. Materials behave differently, and jobs that are normally straightforward become fiddly when wearing gloves, but if you take your gloves off and touch metal with bare skin it will freeze and stick!
Despite these hardships, the team have done a great job and are due to complete on schedule.
